About our Founder (Caroline Samné, Principal)

Catherine Sammé, PrincipleIn 2001, Caroline Samné created New Horizons with a strong belief in the use of strategies that involve the client not only as a partner in discovering the answers to the issues that the organization is faced with, but also as the ultimate owner of the solution. As facilitators and agents of change, our expertise lies in being able to develop processes that enable our clients to find the solutions that best suit their particular environment, organizational culture and other specific organizational needs.

Caroline holds a BA in Psychology and a Master’s in Human Systems Intervention. She has been working in the field of community and organizational development since 1991. Her work has included large-scale change interventions, group facilitation, change management, strategic planning, group development, team building and evaluation process development. Caroline has worked in the Public, Para-public, Private and Community-based sectors. In 2002, Caroline started teaching part-time at Concordia University in the Faculty of Applied Human Sciences.

Caroline has trained with Merrelyn Emery (Search Conferences), Edie Seashore (Use of self as an agent of change and Communication and Feedback), Gervase Busch (Appreciative Inquiry), Diana Whitney (Appreciative Inquiry), Kathy Dannemiller (Whole Scale change), among others.

 

M.J. Plebon (Senior Partner)

M.J. Plebon, Senior PartnerM.J. Plebon graduated from Ryerson University with a diploma in Chemical Engineering Technology.  He worked for an international energy conservation and equipment manufacturer starting off in customer service.  Within ten years he progressed within the company to business development, area regional manager, VP of Sales for Canada and finally President and General Manager. 

In 2000, following his passion for the water treatment industry, M.J. went to work for an upstart company developing and commercializing a technology for the upstream oil and gas market sector.  In this role M.J. not only elaborated key business development strategies but also authored and presented dozens of technical papers throughout Canada, the United States, the UK and Russia.

M.J. has been presenting for 34 years.  His vast experience includes strategic market and sales plan development as well as delivering presentations to major fortune 500 clients, board of directors, department and inter-department teams, technical audiences, trade organizations, shareholders and venture capital companies.  He has been invited as a guest lecturer for the engineering department of the University of Calgary, Seneca College and also invited to present at The Conference Board of Canada's proceedings in Western Canada.

M.J. will work with you to develop that important presentation so that it will be compelling and will stir the emotion of your audience to a level where they are ready to take that important next step suggested by you.  He will also work with you to align your marketing message and raise the communication effectiveness of your business development team.

 

Jane Reichman Van Toch

Jane Reichman Van TochJane Reichman Van Toch graduated from McGill University with a B.C.L. and an LL.B., and practised law for 12 years as in-house counsel to a large private real estate developer. After discovering her passion for organizational development Jane returned to university and graduated with a Masterís degree in Human Systems Intervention, and has been consulting exclusively in the fields of organizational development and change management for the last 8 years.

Jane’s goal is to assist organizations in the development of its people in order to create greater business outcomes. She works extensively in the areas of leadership, group and competency development, conflict resolution, executive coaching and emotional intelligence. She has worked with all levels of organizations in the public and private sectors to develop and implement sustainable learning and change strategies. She has also taught “Organizational Leadership” in the Faculty of Applied Human Sciences at Concordia University.

Jane is certified in the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator ® and the Emotional Intelligence In-Action Profile. She has trained with Merrelyn Emery (Open Systems), Gervase Bushe (Appreciative Inquiry) and Edie Seashore (“Use of Self” as an agent of change).

She is a member if the International Coach Federation and as such she adheres to their professional code of ethics.

Kathleen GranKathleen Gran is one of the few Image Consultants who integrates Personal Branding to her individual Image Programs. By discovering someone’s core values, she will help them build an authentic, consistent and clear visual message that will guide them on the path to success. Her clients appreciate her coaching approach in helping them develop a strong personal and professional presence that conveys credibility and trust.

Kathleen also offers an Image Mentoring Program for young adults and foreign students who are transitioning from the classroom to the workforce, or for anyone who needs to adapt to a new career or position.

Kathleen has 10 years experience in corporate management and training positions She is a certified Image Consultant and associate member of the Association of Image Consultants International and trained with one of the select few Certified Image Masters in the world. Kathleen graduated from the Université de Montréal (multidisciplinary programs), is a certified Level III stylist from Body Beautiful and is certified by Reach Communications Consulting, Inc. in the 360Reach Personal Brand Assessment.

Kathleen is a volunteer E-mentor with Academos, a career mentoring program for young adults.
